2024 VASIS & SEOW Annual Report

The 2024 VASIS-SEOW Annual Report highlights the ongoing efforts of OMNI, in partnership with Virginia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), to enhance data accessibility and epidemiological monitoring. The Virginia Social Indicator Summary (VASIS) dashboard, built and maintained by OMNI, centralizes behavioral health data to support needs assessments, grant applications, and data-driven decision-making across the state.

This year, OMNI made significant updates, including expanding the Virginia Youth Survey dashboard to include additional behavioral health indicators and improving the Juvenile Justice System dashboard to reflect updated reporting practices. OMNI supported in the transition of the VASIS dashboard to a new website platform, leading to higher engagement, with an average of over 200 visits per month.

The Virginia State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup (SEOW), led by OMNI, continued its role in coordinating data-sharing efforts among state agencies and prevention-focused sectors. Strategic planning efforts led to the creation of a new subcommittee focused on data-driven initiatives and expanding partnerships, including collaborations with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and the Office of Child and Family Services. Looking ahead, VASIS and the SEOW plan to introduce new community-level reports, expanded filtering options, and additional datasets (including problem gambling data) to further enhance the platform’s impact on behavioral health and prevention strategies.
