OMNI’s Hiring Process

Thank you for your interest in a position at OMNI Institute!

We respect your time, and ours, in the hiring process and have designed our hiring steps to be as efficient as possible. To help give you a sense of what may lie ahead if you apply for a position with our company, here is an overview of a typical five step hiring process at OMNI Institute.

 Step 1: Application Review

We take our time to build large and diverse applicant pools before we begin the hiring process. As a result, typically our roles are open for 3-4 weeks before we can begin resume review and consider candidates for the first round of the process. When we begin review, it can take us another week to closely review every application, including reviewing resumes, reading cover letters, and reviewing answers to the questions in our online application form.

 Step 2: VideoAsk Screening

Video pre-screenings help us connect with candidates more efficiently and personally right from the start! Through a brief video, we get a chance to see your personality, communication style, and enthusiasm beyond a resume. This initial step allows us to streamline the process, ensuring the following stages are better tailored to both your strengths and interests and is a way for us to get to know you a little better before diving into deeper discussions!

Step 3: Introductory Call

Typically, about 15%-20% of applicants move forward to an initial introductory phone call with our HR team. This call lasts about 15-20 minutes and provides an opportunity for us to ask you a couple of grounding questions about your interest in the position and for candidates to ask our HR team some initial questions about OMNI and the role.

Step 4: One-on-One Conversation

Typically, about 50% of candidates who have an introductory phone conversation will move forward to a 1:1 conversation with someone on our team. This conversation typically lasts 30-45 minutes and are held via Zoom. Each candidate in this stage will interview with the same person and be asked the same set of questions to create balance and fairness in our assessment process. Typically, this interview consists of three sections:

  1. An introduction with a deeper explanation of the role from the interviewer

  2. Questions for the candidate about their experience and skills

  3. Time for the candidate to ask the interviewer questions.

Step 5: Panel Discussion

Typically 25% of candidates who have a 1:1 conversation will move to the final stage of the process, a panel discussion. This interview will be held via Zoom, and like our earlier rounds, all candidates will meet with the same panel (typically three members of our staff) and be asked the same questions. This interview usually lasts from 60-90 minutes and consists of four steps:

  1. Introductions to help candidates know who they are talking to for the interview and their roles at OMNI

  2. A 5-10 minute “presentation” from the candidate that consists of time for the candidate to share an example of their previous, relevant work. We never ask candidates to prepare a new presentation or conduct any new work for this brief presentation.

  3. The panel will ask all candidates questions to dig deeper into their experiences and skills

  4. The candidate will have time to ask the panel questions about the role or working at OMNI

Step 6: Offer

Our process typically ends at the panel interview. All of the OMNI staff who participated through the hiring process come together after the panel interview to discuss the candidates and to align on a hiring decision as a group. In some rare cases, when the group cannot come to a consensus decision, we may request 2 final candidates participate in a final 30 minute conversation with another member of our senior OMNI staff to help the hiring team get to a final decision.

Generally, the final candidate receiving an offer will hear from our HR team with a verbal offer by phone, followed by an email from our recruiting system with all of the relevant information about the position, including title, salary, and benefits. It is important to note that we research and benchmark standard salary bands for every level at OMNI Institute to insure pay equity, and the salary is always shared in our job postings and should not be a surprise in the offer. As a result, we do not negotiate salary or benefits in our job offers.

We ask that candidates review the benefits information and salary offer and reach out to our HR team with any questions before they give us a final answer about the job offer to join our team at OMNI Institute.
