Why OMNI?

At OMNI, our mission is to advance positive social change. We work across multiple sectors, with governments and businesses, to increase the impact their programs have in their communities. As social scientists, we believe in finding the truth and communicating our findings with clarity, rigor, and authenticity. As consultants, we work across multiple sectors, and with multiple clients, and see our work put into action with real, tangible, and at times transformative impacts in communities.

Founded in 1982, we have built a nationally recognized brand renowned for our rigorous research and application of best practices, our authentic engagement and the genuine connection we build with our clients and their vested partners, and the cross-systems expertise needed to address complex social issues.

We believe that the employee experience at OMNI begins with your very first interactions with us, from reading a job description online, submitting your resume, participating in the interview process, to eventually becoming a member of our team. All of these steps matter, and we have invested in ensuring that each phase of our hiring process is intentional and communicates with candidates what to expect from OMNI.

Job Description & Applying

We believe that you are the best judge of your qualifications. We encourage you to try and see yourself in the role, to know what will be expected, and to determine if you are interested. We are expansive in who we consider “qualified,” not limited, and have written our job descriptions without the checklist of qualifications or predetermined requirements that too often discourage applicants. Read the description, consider your experiences and skills, and see if you can envision yourself being a social science consultant at OMNI.

The Hiring Process

We respect your time, and ours, and designed our hiring steps as efficiently as possible. To help give you a sense of what may lie ahead if you apply for a position with our company, click here and review our typical five-step hiring process.

Consider This

While it is important for us to evaluate the candidates throughout our hiring process, it’s just as important for candidates to know if this will be the right place for them.  To help with that, we suggest the following:

  1. Review our website, understand our work and our clients, and consider the types of projects we work on.  We have many project samples on our site. It can also be helpful to look at the profiles of some of our staff to give you a sense of who we are and what we do.

  2. Review our Core Values and know that they are real, meaningful, and lived by our staff. Asking yourself if you share those values is a good place to start when considering a job at OMNI. We were intentional in creating the Core Values and we are intentional in living them and using them to frame how we give feedback to each other, how we have client interactions, how we consider successes and challenges on our projects, and other aspects of our work.

  3. While we are a mission-driven nonprofit, we are also a consulting firm.  This means that work is never the same, it is often fast-paced and deadline driven, and you will likely find yourself working through ambiguity as we dig into client projects. It also means that you will work very closely with your colleagues, constantly collaborating and communicating on interdependent teams to complete projects.

Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity makes OMNI a better organization, and we encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply, particularly people of color, those who identify as LGBTQ+, first-generation immigrants, those who were first in their families to attend college, and people who are from marginalized income backgrounds.  As a proud equal opportunity workplace, we believe that a diverse team is fundamental to living our Core Values. The inclusion of diverse perspectives provides new ways of asking questions (Inquiry), fresh approaches to tackling challenges (Agility), contributes to a greater shared understanding of our community and sense of connection among our staff and to our clients (Connection), and helps us bring new perspectives and respect the views of our clients and communities (Accountability).

Remote Work

Why Remote Work?

Like many companies, the pandemic flipped our model on its head. But unlike others, we chose not to look back.

Today, all of our staff choose their preferred work location. That means, as long as you live in the contiguous United States and have a strong internet connection, you can work wherever you would like to.  You may need to travel for client work from time to time, or come to our headquarters in Denver, CO for an occasional internal meeting or team retreat, but we want our team to choose the working situation that works best for them. We decided to do this for several reasons.

  1. The cost of living in Denver is comparatively high, and some of our staff have life needs that require them to live outside of a close commuting distance to an office.  By moving to remote work, we estimate we can give back approximately 4,050 hours of time per year that would otherwise be spent commuting to our Denver office by our 30+ local staff.  That is time our staff will spend at home with their children, cooking meals, exercising, experiencing nature, and participating in many other activities to better balance their lives.

  2. We realized during the pandemic that while it takes intentional investment, we can maintain a thriving culture through remote work. By empowering managers to support their teams, having an accessible executive team, and finding the right times to connect as a company, we can live our Core Value of Connection while being many miles apart.

  3. Significant time spent commuting to be in the office just doesn’t seem like a good investment. Thousands of miles commuting, thousands of dollars on gas and parking, only to do work that you can mostly do anywhere just isn’t efficient.  We believe in bringing our team together when it really matters, leveraging our tools to collaborate and work together virtually, and having the trust and respect of our staff that they don’t have to be visibly in the office to be effective and productive.

  4. As a national company, we work with great clients all over the country. So, we should also open our doors to recruit the absolute best people from all over the country. Our >50 employees now live in 19 states across the country. So whether you live in Denver, Atlanta, Santa Barbara, Raleigh, Seattle or anywhere else, when you accept an offer and join OMNI, you will get to choose where you live.  Employees in the Denver area are welcome to work from home or from our headquarters office in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver.

Ultimately, you’ll be empowered to make the life choices that are right for you and your family.

  • Flexible Schedules

We expect all staff to own their schedules and time. While everyone works a schedule that approximates the “business day”, we encourage staff to attend to their personal needs when they arise. We obviously have calls and meetings during the day that sometime can’t be avoided, but we encourage our staff to do other personal things when they need to and try best to balance their time and lives between work and home.

  • Paid Time Off

Our PTO policy respects individual needs and traditions. We offer flexible floating holidays each month for you to use on the days that matter most to you. We have generous regular PTO, time accrual opportunities, and we close the office for the last week of the year and the first Friday or every new quarter so we have the opportunity to take a collective breath and recharge together.
