Julie Thompson, M.S., CPSII, has been employed by OMNI Institute since July 2007 as a Regional Prevention Consultant (RPC) working for the Regional Prevention Services (RPS) Project, which is funded by the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health, Community Prevention and Early Intervention Programs. She is responsible for planning and providing consulting services to communities and organizations in central and southeast Colorado. Julie provides training and technical assistance in needs assessment, capacity building, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based prevention programs, policies and practices. She is a certified Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Trainer and a certified Bridges Out of Poverty Trainer. Julie has worked with individuals, coalitions, organizations, and nonprofit agencies for more than 25+ years. Prior to coming to OMNI, Julie was employed as the North Teller Build A Generation (NTBAG) Coordinator by the City of Woodland Park from 2001-2007. NTBAG is a Community Coalition working to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors related to prevention of substance abuse, violence, delinquency, school drop-out and teen pregnancy. She also worked with children and youth in inpatient and outpatient treatment programs for many years. Julie received her Master’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation with a focus on working with children and adolescents in psychiatric settings from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
